How to reach Auli:
Auli is well connected to the rest of India with a good network of motorable road and it is located on the way to Badrinath. Hill station is covered with snow and circumferences by beautiful forest and can be reached by taking a divergence just before the religious Joshimath town. This mesmerizing hill station is located at a distance of about 252 km from the gorgeous town of Rishikesh. It also found its importance in Hindu culture because of its connection to epic Ramayan and you can find a temple having a connection with ancient times.
Hill station is at a distance of 270 km from Capita city Dehradun and it is not a small distance. By Flight to Auli:
Auli has no airport nearby and the nearest airport to reach here is Jolly grant airport at Dehradun which is at a distance of 286 km from here. The airport is well connected with Delhi by daily flights and from here you have to take a road trip till Auli. By Train to Auli:

But the nearest railway station to Auli is of Haridwar Junction at a distance of 285 km which is further connected to the rest of India by train services on a daily basis. Auli is located on a beautiful road network connecting to the main destinations like Badrinath, Rishikesh, and Haridwar. While approaching by road, you have to take a divergence just before the religious town of Joshimath. Divergence will lead you straight to Auli after a distance of just 15 Km.

Kuari Pass Trekking

This trek starts from Joshimath to Auli followed by Gorson Bugyal to Kuari pass and is of a total duration of 5 days.

Cable car Ride:

The highest and longest ropeway in Asia after Gulmarg, Auli cable car covers a distance of 4.4 km in 24 minutes and connects Auli to Joshimath with locally known as Gondola. It is located at 3010-meter altitude and gives a great view of the surroundings. Entry fees per person are 1000 rs for round trip and start from GMVN tourist rest house to Auli. A chair lift is available for rs 300 per person which is fitted with a remote braking system and storm warning.
Auli artificial Lake:
Auli artificial lake is a pristine lake perched at an astounding elevation. The government to provide artificial snow on the ski slopes during scanty rainfall created this lake. As one of the highest artificial lakes in the world, it offers a calm and peaceful place to spend time with your friends and family and with yourself.
The water of this lake is used to feed the snow guns stationed along the ski slopes in order to offer a good surface for skiing thereby helped in extending the ski season. The Himalayas in the backdrop of the lake and the surrounding environment give a picturesque view, getting away from which is something not so easy.
Gurson Bugyal is located at an altitude of 3056 meters and it is situated just 3 km trek from Auli. It is a large land of green pastures surrounded by coniferous forest and oak trees. Alternatively, you can take ropeway from Joshimath to the last tower and Gurson Bugyal is just 1.5 km from the last tower of Ropeway. It is advisable to take help from local people to reach the exact location timely.
During spring season it is lush green grass all over the meadows which makes it the best time for camping and trekking here. During winters the area gets covered under snow and sometimes difficult to trek or find the way. But few adventure enthusiasts organize the winter trek up to Gurson Bugyal.
It is advisable that tourists must plan their trekking to Gurson Bugyal early in the morning so that can be back by evening. Because there is no accommodation facility available at Gurson Bugyal and one has to return to Joshimath or Auli for a comfortable stay in hotels.
You can trek towards Chattrakund which is just 1 km trek from Gurson Bugyal and distance of 3 km from the Bugyal. Chattrakund is famous for its sweet water and is located in the center of a dense forest. Chattrakund is actually a small lake of sweet crystal clean water that is surrounded by lush green forest and situated at an altitude of 3300 meters.
Explore Hill station
Apart from the adventure, you can spend time exploring Auli. Check out the local villages, visit popular places, and learn the local culture, talk to the locals and breathe in the fresh air of Auli. Hill station is best explored by foot, so it is advisable to keep one or two-day reserve for a stay to completely enjoy the beauty at its best.
Mata Murti ka Mela- during the breezy month of September, the place is drenched in a spiritual aura as the ‘Mata Murti Ka Mela’ is organized in Badrinath which is located nearby to Auli. You can have a short visit to Badrinath from here in a day or so.

⇒ During winter, Auli witness heavy snowfall. Light woolens may prove insufficient. It is advisable to carry heavy woolens when visiting Auli between Octobers to March.
⇒ If possible try to find accommodation at Joshimath as pricing would be competitive there as compared to Auli. Also, Joshimath is a reroute Badrinath.
⇒ Avoid traveling in monsoons, as the region is prone to heavy rainfall and landslides that could cause severe roadblocks.
⇒ There are no ATM or petrol pumps in Auli. One would have to come to Joshimath, which is why Joshimath is preferable in every aspect.
⇒ There are very few options available for staying in Auli and those also on the higher end of price so better to find one among many options in Joshimath at competitive prices. The same goes for food as well so it is always better to accommodate yourself in Joshimath rather than Auli. Additionally, you can go through some tips to book hotels at cheap and comfortable rates and make your stay even more enjoyable.
⇒ In winters the road from Joshimath to Auli is not operational due to heavy snow. So cable car is the only mode of transportation between these two locations in the winter season. The last trip of the cable car to Auli leaves Joshimath at 4.20 PM in winter and 5.30 PM in summer, so tourists must keep in mind these timings and reach well before it.
⇒ Tourists visiting the clifftop club have to alight at tower number eight of the cable car. This tower is a high tower and the elderly may find it difficult to use the stairs and walk down to resort in snow. Road to the club is a difficult hill trek so guest can park their vehicle in the parking area at ropeway park at Joshimath and travel to Auli by ropeway to tower number eight with the luggage. This ropeway is Asia’s longest and second highest ropeway and charges for the same is 500 per person.
⇒ Alternatively, tourists can travel from Joshimath to the GMVN tourist reception center at Auli (14km). The exciting and fun-filled chair lift ride from there to the clifftop club costs 100 per person for a round trip. Members can hire taxis from josh math to reach a clifftop at a cost of roughly 800 Rs.
